Hi there everyone! Much, much, much love to you in the New Year! 2010 is our Living Awakening year, and I am ready.
Now here comes a very personal note from me to you...
Do you remember the first dollar you made from your own creative and entrepreneurial efforts? Not the money you made bussing tables in high school, or working for someone else.Do you remember the first time you took a risk to put out your own creativity and to put yourself out into the marketplace, not knowing what would come?

My son, Abhi, is 17. He asked me to buy him a car. I told him I would be glad to help out, but he has to be a part of the process too. I want him to learn that money (and a car!) is the fruit of creativity, risk taking and an entrepreneur spirit.
He could have responded to that in many ways. He could have got a job in a cafe, or mowing lawns. But here is what he chose to do with my suggestion:

Even though I could have given him the money to buy a car, I am so happy to see Abhi find a creative way to follow his passion and make money out of it. Regardless of how much money he does make, I know it will give him the skills, and confidence, necessary to think out of the box which will help him for years to come.Abhi is the best photographer at his high school.  He wants to be work in the film world. He has built his first website, and is offering his best prints for sale there, to raise money for his first car.  Whatever he makes on his site, I have told him I will match dollar for dollar.

We should teach our kids to be imaginative when it comes to make money, and so we need to teach them the skills that can allow them to follow their passion or life purpose without limitation. Other than just academic skills (which are just as important), we also need to help nurture their social, entrepreneur and investment skills too. Helping them get creative with their ideas is a great way to start.

Because at the end of the day, it's more that just a car isn't it? It's about creativity and passion, it's about taking risks, it's about resources and application; and ultimately, it's about goals, accomplishment and pride.

All my love, and great great wishes for a fantastic new year

PS. Will you take a moment to support someone just starting out in life and taking a risk for success?  Please go visit his site.  Leave him a comment if you like his work.  Subscribe to his very first mailing list  (it’s all in the list!!)  Tell a friend or two about his work. And, if you like his work, buy a print or two.  They make great gifts.  If he can sell 100 prints, with the money I match him with, he is into some nice wheels!
